our brick nest
How "Brick Nest" came about, and what it means to us...
by Jon Steiger
The first home my wife and I lived in was a relatively new build with an open floorplan and a brick facade in a subdivision just outside the village limits of Fredonia, NY.
Shortly after moving in, we started a home based business and needed a name.
After much deliberation, inspired by our home's construction and the two lovebirds that seemed to be perpetually perched
on the roof, we came up with "Little Brick Nest". Just as birds have a nest to live in and raise a family, so do we - ours was just made of brick rather than twigs.
At the time we purchased the home, it checked off all of the boxes and was a perfect fit for our life and style, and I don't think either of us had an inkling that we would ever move. As time went by however, our tastes began to shift from sleek and modern towards things with an old world charm. From chrome and can lights to shiplap and chandeliers. One day, my wife drove by an 1800s brick victorian with a Realtor's sign in the yard. It was just a couple of miles away and we went to look at it on a whim. Long story short, we instantly recognized the potential and saw that it was a better fit for where we were heading in life. After trading our barely 15 year old home for one well over 150 years old, we realized that "Little Brick Nest" was still applicable - after all, our "new" home was also brick, and now with two little ones in tow, it was more like a nest than ever before!
When I took the opportunity to start a new real estate brokerage, it only made sense to bring it under the "Brick Nest" umbrella. In fact, our logo is a whimsical sketch of our actual home. In the interests of brevity and keeping our domain name short enough to fit on signs and business cards, we dropped the "Little" from the front, to become simply, "Brick Nest Realty".
After moving into our current home, we truly do have a feeling that this is indeed our "forever home", just as it was for the previous owners who thrived here for more than half a century. We want everyone to be able to have this same feeling and opportunity. We would love to help you to find your very own "Brick Nest"!
